The tuberculosis skin test does not know that it is abnormal

Tuberculosis skin test generally refers to PPD skin test. Whether the results of the PPD skin test are normal or not depends on a case-by-case basis.

First, the normal situation

If the patient observes local redness, swelling and induration less than 5 mm in diameter 48 to 72 hours after the PPD skin test, it is a negative reaction and usually indicates that the body has not been infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis or has been inoculated with BCG and is normal.

2. Abnormal circumstances

1. False positive: If the patient has suffered from other diseases in the past, used anti-tuberculosis drugs or suffered from skin diseases during treatment, it may lead to the body producing specific antibodies and causing false positives, which is not a normal situation.

2. Strong positive: Some patients have been infected by tuberculosis bacteria but have been cured, and will also have such symptoms, which is usually a phenomenon caused by the presence of a large number of binding proteins in the body, and is not a normal phenomenon.

3. Weak positive: Although some patients have been infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis, due to their strong autoimmunity, they may not have obvious uncomfortable symptoms, so they will not be discovered, so this situation is also a normal phenomenon.

It is recommended that patients seek medical examination in time and clarify the cause before symptomatic treatment. Pay attention to a light diet in daily life and avoid eating spicy and stimulating foods to avoid aggravating the condition.
