Is lung cancer contagious?

Lung cancer is not contagious.

Infectious diseases mainly refer to a class of diseases caused by various pathogens that can be transmitted from person to person, animal to animal, or person to animal. The transmission of a disease must meet three conditions: the source of infection, the route of transmission and the susceptible population, all of which are indispensable. Cancer is an abnormal proliferation of human tissue cells after mutation, and it is not the source of infection, so there is no possibility of infection. Therefore, liver cancer is not transmitted through daily contact, and it will not be transmitted to others through sharing dishes and chopsticks (eating and drinking) or close contact (respiratory tract).

Lung cancer is a malignant tumor. It is a malignant tumor caused by a combination of genetic defects and internal and external environmental carcinogenic factors, and there is no evidence that it is related to pathogen infection, which means that lung cancer is not an infectious disease and cannot be transmitted to others. If the patient also has an infectious disease such as tuberculosis or bacterial pneumonia, the latter may be transmitted to others.

If someone in the family unfortunately suffers from lung cancer, other relatives, especially immediate family members, may become a high-risk group for cancer, so it is best to be vigilant and go to the hospital for cancer screening.
