How to relieve leg pain in prostate cancer patients

If a prostate cancer patient has leg pain, he or she needs to go to the hospital for further examination to rule out the pain caused by femoral metastases, and then treat the symptoms.

1. If the progression of prostate cancer causes leg pain after femur metastasis, the treatment is relatively tricky. Treatment of the primary disease of prostate cancer, such as endocrine therapy or radical prostatectomy, is first required. The second step is to control metastasis symptoms, such as intravenous zoledronic acid to inhibit bone metastases and reduce bone pain.Finally, oral analgesics are needed, such as diclofenac sodium capsules in the early stage, and morphine sulfate sustained-release tablets and oxycodone hydrochloride tablets in the later stage to treat cancer pain and improve the quality of life of patients.

2. If the prostate has not metastasized and the leg pain is caused by bone and joint diseases, it is recommended to go to the orthopedic department for specialist treatment. Tests include an MRI of the prostate and serum PSA levels to see if there is progression of prostate cancer. If the PSA level is well controlled, continue to use the original drugs to control prostate cancer and prevent bone metastasis from prostate cancer.
