How to read the Mycoplasma pneumoniae report form
The report of Mycoplasma pneumoniae mainly looks at the white blood cell count, neutrophil count, C-reactive protein, procalcitonin and other indicators of blood routine.
1. White blood cell count
If the white blood cell count is normal or low and the neutrophil count is high, a bacterial infection may be present. If the white blood cell count is elevated and the neutrophil count is low, it is generally suggestive of a viral infection.
2. Neutrophil count
A high neutrophil count is usually indicative of a bacterial infection.A low neutrophil count is usually indicative of a possible viral infection.
3. C-reactive protein
C-reactive protein is an inflammatory marker that can be elevated if a patient has a bacterial infection.
4. Procalcitonin
Procalcitonin is a protein that can be elevated if a patient has a bacterial infection.
5. Miscellaneous
You can also look at indicators such as oxygen saturation, arterial partial pressure of oxygen, and partial pressure of carbon dioxide.
If the patient has abnormal conditions in the above indicators, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time to avoid delaying the condition. Patients can use drugs such as azithromycin and levofloxacin for anti-infective treatment under the guidance of a doctor. At the same time, patients can also be treated with drugs such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen as prescribed.
