Breast fibroadenoma is a benign ∵ tumor, which is mainly composed of a mixture of glandular epithelium and fibrous tissue, which occurs in young women and has a lot to do with the imbalance of sex hormone levels in the patient's body.
Fibroadenoma of the breast is rarely accompanied by pain or nipple discharge, and is usually a single lump, but there are multiple cases. The diagnosis of this disease requires three examinations to be confirmed, so which three are the three aspects?
1. Color ultrasound examination
Ultrasonography usually shows the structure of the breast, the shape and size of the lump, and the echo of the lump. Breast fibroadenoma is mostly round, oval and relatively uniform hypoechoic at noon, you can also see smooth and clear capsular echo, normal or slightly enhanced echo behind the lump, lateral acoustic shadow can be seen, and coarse calcification with acoustic shadow can be seen in the lump.
2. Mammography
Adolescent girls or those with dense mammary glands are not suitable for mammography. Generally, women aged middle-aged and above appear as round and oval masses through mammography fibroadenoma, but they can also appear lobulated with a diameter of 1~3cm. The edges are smooth and clear, and the lump is equal or slightly dense compared to a normal gland of equal volume, with a low-density halo around it. Calcifications can be seen in some lesions, and the location of calcification is generally in the center or edge of the mass, mostly coarse granular, dendritic or speckled, and can also merge with each other to form a large lump, occupying most or all of the lump.
3. Biopsy of breast lesions
If the breast mass is difficult to distinguish based on medical history, physical examination, or imaging examination, histopathological examination can be performed by puncture or surgical excision, and the diagnosis can be confirmed in general.
The above three examinations need to be done for breast fibroadenoma in a timely manner, the first two examinations can generally be confirmed, and the latter examination is mainly for the lump that is difficult to identify in the medical history, physical examination or imaging examination.
