A full menstrual cycle is counted from the first day of menstruation to the first day of the next menstrual period. The menstrual cycle is generally calculated in one month, but in fact, the length of each person's menstrual cycle is different, and 7-10 days before menstruation is a normal menstrual cycle.
The menstrual cycle, also known as the ovarian cycle, consists of four phases: follicular phase, ovulation phase, luteal phase and menstrual phase.
1. Follicular period: The period from the first day of menstruation to the day of ovulation is called the follicular period, during which due to the influence of follicle-stimulating hormone, the concentration of estrogen hormones in the female body increases, the follicles become gradually mature, and the endometrium will also thicken.
2. Ovulation: The process in which the egg cell and the surrounding cumulus granulosa cells are expelled together is regarded as ovulation. About 14 days before the next menstrual period is a woman's ovulation period.
3. Luteal phase: Luteal phase refers to the day before menstruation after the egg cell is discharged, the ovaries secrete progesterone to maintain the thickening of the endometrium under the influence of luteinizing hormone, so as to facilitate the implantation of the fertilized egg.
4. Menstrual period: The duration of each menstrual period for women is 2-8 days, with an average of 4-6 days, and the duration of each menstrual period is the menstrual period. Usually there are no special symptoms during menstruation, but due to pelvic congestion and the action of prostaglandins during menstruation, some women have discomfort in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral region or uterine contraction pain, and may have gastrointestinal disorders such as diarrhea.
The menstrual cycle is long and short, and it does not have to be calculated by month, as long as there is a certain regularity, it is a normal menstrual cycle.
