What astigmatism looks like

Astigmatism is usually a refractive error of the eye, which is related to the curvature of the cornea. If the astigmatism is small, there is no significant loss of vision, so it is basically normal to see things.If the degree of astigmatism is too large, it will inevitably lead to vision loss, blurred vision when looking far or near, and double vision is prone to occur. Astigmatism forms a clear image by means of accommodation, or by the distance between the object and the eye, and only with the appropriate cylindrical lens can a clear image be formed on the retina. Depending on the presentation, astigmatism can be divided into regular astigmatism, which can be corrected with lenses, and irregular astigmatism, which cannot be corrected with lenses.

1. Vision loss

Vision loss is closely related to the extent and type of astigmatism. Patients with mild astigmatism generally have normal vision, while moderate and high astigmatism have poor near and far vision.
